WHAT A CHEEK, this Muslim leader in the Netherland commenting the partial ban of the burka in public spaces that the country seems to be considering. Look at what he says:
Yassim Hertog, a vice-president of the Muslim School Boards Union, said: “Can you prohibit someone from wearing a certain type of dress? They are trying to test what a government can forbid, and how far you can go trampling on people’s rights. They want to show all these Dutch citizens who are sick and tired of all these ‘mutant’ citizens, this is where we draw the line — get normal.”
The guy's disingeneous beyond belief. Of course you can prohibit someone from wearing a certain type of dress... this is exactly what Islamic societies do all the time! Why doesn't he pose that question to the imams in Iran, or the mutaween in Saudi Arabia?

Look, I can accept for the sake of the argument that Muslim women positively want to wear burkas, hijabs, abayas or whatever, because they feel more comfortable and it's their tradition. We know that this is not true, of course; they may say it, but only because otherwise they're going to be battered. Or they may even believe it because of a syndrome similar to the battered wife. This is a well known pshycological phenomenon and I'm not discovering anything new. But as I say, I'll accept for the sake of the argument that Muslim wome want to wear these tradicional dresses.

But what's absolutely proven, even for someone like this dude Hertog, is that certain kinds of dresses are verboten in Islamic societies. Or does Hertog allow his wife, or daughters if he has them, to go to the beach with a bikini, or even a swimsuit? Gosh, even this is too liberal for virtually all Muslim countries except Turkey!
