WHEN AZNAR suggested to his party convention the name of his successor, who was overwhelmingly backed by the delegates, the Socialist party (now-PM Zapatero included) described what happened by coining the "dedocracia" ["fingerocracy"]. By that rule of thumb, how should we label the attempt by Zapatero of directly imposing a candidate for Madrid's regional elections over the democratically elected candidate of the Socialist Party local branch? Just askin'.
