THEY FELL into a trap: La Vanguardia reports (in Spanish; free reg. req.) about the Ceuta border incident where five immigrants were killed (my translation):

The immigrants feel being used and victims of a setup whose goal they ignored. They claim that the Moroccoan police pushed them towards the Spanish border and, once there, they were shot at by them. Some leaders of the group say that they advised against jumping the fence last Wednesday because of what had happened a few days earlier in Melilla, but that some Subsaharan Africans they hadn't seen before showed up in their camps encouraging the jump arguing that it was the last opportunity before it was heightened to 6 meters tall. Later, when they were approaching the fence with their hand made ladders, some Moroccan policemen encouraged them to follow. Finally, the massacre arrived. Some people think that everything was plotted by Morocco to pressure Spain for more money in the Seville summit.
