I SAW the debate last night (please, some applause, it was 3am over here!) and I think that Kerry was better than expected, appearing quite presidential, but it was a matter of appearance more than substance. Bush didn't have his best night, and passed some clear opportunities to counter some real howlers by Kerry. If Bush had been as forceful as he was in the 2 minute final recap, today Kerry's campaign people would be picking his pieces. But he wasn't, so I think this keeps Kerry on the race with some chances.

The Washington Post has, in my opinion, one of the best and more balanced editorials in the mainstraem press. A good read.
